La Tranche-sur-Mer is a coastal commune in southern Vendée, approximately 45 km from Les Sables d'Olonne, with 13 km of coastline designated as bathing zones. The municipality extends over 17.63 km² with a permanent population of 2,540 inhabitants, increasing to approximately 100,000 during the summer season. The bathing profile document addresses water quality vulnerability and was prepared to comply with European Directive 2006/7/CE on bathing water quality, which required vulnerability profiles to be established by February 2011.
