The Gua des Brasses bathing zone is located on Lake La Raviège in the municipality of La Salvetat sur Agout, in a cove on the right bank of the lake. The bathing area features a natural pebble beach that was renovated in 2015 and is maintained annually by municipal services. The zone is equipped with a floating swimming pool, a rescue post staffed during summer months, and facilities including toilets meeting accessibility standards. Water circulation is ensured by the Agout River current and a small stream that feeds into the bathing area.

Water

Lake La Raviège is a retention lake created in 1958 following construction of a dam on the Agout River, oriented East-West. The bathing zone measures approximately 100 m long and 70 m wide at maximum, with a maximum depth of 3 m and a progressive slope with sand or earth bottom. Water level decreases during summer season. A floating swimming pool with maximum depth of 70 cm is also present.

Location

La Salvetat sur Agout municipality, West of the village in a cove of Lake La Raviège on the right bank. GPS coordinates: 43°36'10.9"N 2°39'23.3"E (43.603039, 2.656467). The bathing zone is associated with the Gua des Brasses marina (floating structure).

Facilities

Rescue post staffed daily from 1 July to 31 August, 2 pm to 7 pm with municipal personnel trained and equipped. Toilets meeting accessibility standards (PMR) adjacent to rescue post. Floating swimming pool accessible from the beach. Lawns surrounding the bathing zone regularly cleaned by municipal services. Pets must be kept on leash and animal bathing is prohibited.

Season

Rescue post operational from 1 July to 31 August daily from 2 pm to 7 pm. Dam water level maintained at minimum elevation 658 N.G.F. from 21 June to 21 September annually to ensure satisfactory water level for tourism activities.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent under Directive 2006/7/CE based on microbiological analyses from the last four summer seasons. No cyanophytes observed. No green algae proliferation noted. Water transparency measured at more than 0.8 m using Secchi disc. Bathing profile type 1 classification applies (risk of water pollution not established).
