Water

Inland lake in a sedimentary basin of fluvial origin with low to medium mineralisation. The lake bed comprises pebbles, gravel, and sand of various grain sizes. The bathing zone area is 0.45 km². The catchment area is 46.10 km² with maximum elevation of 1489.47 metres and minimum of 485.47 metres. The surface water body status is worse than good.

Located in Carucedo, León, Spain. Access via Calle Xardois in Carucedo, cross Calle Abajo and turn left to reach the parking area near the bathing zone. Parking available.

Parking available. Toilets present. No lifeguard posts. No showers. Information signs present. Bar/snack bar available. Picnic areas. Waste bins. Waste containers. Recreational zone with children's play areas. Boat dock/embarcadero. Water fountains. No domestic animal access. Estimated bathers: 300 on weekends, 50 on weekdays.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2020-2023 is excellent (grade 4) according to Royal Decree 1341/2007. Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci concentrations remain below established limits. Health risk assessment based on enterococci dilution in circulation flow indicates acceptable conditions. The groundwater body Selmo-Vegadeo is in good status.
