Lagoa da Ervedeira is a freshwater lagoon approximately 500 meters long, located between Mata do Urso and Mata do Pedrogão, north of Pinhal de Leiria. The lagoon is predominantly surrounded by maritime pines and eucalyptus trees. A wooden walkway runs along the entire western bank of the lagoon.

Freshwater lagoon. Approximately 500 meters in length.

Location

Located in Leiria municipality. The bathing water is situated north of Pinhal de Leiria, between Mata do Urso and Mata do Pedrogão. A picnic area is available in the surrounding area.

Facilities

Picnic area. Wooden walkway along the western bank.

Season

June 7th to September 14th, 2025. Sampling frequency: once every 2 weeks.

Water Quality

Water quality classification according to Decreto-Lei 135/09 of June 3rd, amended by May 23rd Decreto-Lei nº 113/2012. No short-term pollution episodes occurred during the bathing season. Zero days of bathing advisories or prohibitions were recorded due to short-term pollution events in the 2024 bathing season.

Risks

Potential for cyanobacteria proliferation is likely. Potential for phytoplankton proliferation is likely. Solid waste from beach activities and high number of users identified as potential sources of microbiological pollution.
