Lazzaro Riace is a bathing water area located in the municipality of Motta San Giovanni in Calabria. The beach features a sandy-gravelly composition with an articulated coastal geomorphology. The area is situated opposite agricultural territories south of the inhabited centre of Lazzaro. The bathing water has been classified as excellent quality.

Location

Municipality of Motta San Giovanni, province of Reggio Calabria, Calabria region. The area is located south of the inhabited centre of Lazzaro, opposite agricultural territories.

Showers and beach access walkways are available.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent quality. The water body is identified as Motta San Giovanni - San Lorenzo. Short-term pollution events are characterised by runoff from agricultural areas. No anomalous situations have been recorded. No algal blooms have been reported in the previous four years.

Risks

Runoff from agricultural areas has been identified as a potential source of short-term pollution. The mouth of Fosso del Capo is a known pollution source.
