Plage du Gaou is a semi-enclosed beach located on Île du Gaou in the commune of Six-Fours, facing Île des Embiez. The beach is 30 metres long and composed of sand and pebbles, with natural rock formations delimiting it to the north and south. It has low visitor frequency and adequate water circulation. The beach has a shower facility and is accessed via a botanical path prohibited to motorised vehicles.

Six-Fours, Île du Gaou, facing Île des Embiez. Access via the botanical path of Île du Gaou. Parking available 500 metres from the beach.

Season

Summer season: 15 June to 15 September. Weekly bacteriological analysis conducted at DDASS sampling point during this period.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as good based on DDASS sampling between 2003 and 2008. Vulnerability index evaluated as low. Low potential for cyanobacteria, macroalgae, or phytoplankton proliferation due to adequate water circulation and no confirmed nitrogen and phosphorus input. No history of algal bloom.

Risks

Low risk of short-term pollution potentially originating from wastewater network malfunction during dry weather, though no pollution sources identified in direct proximity to the beach.
