Petit-Port is a bathing beach located in Cancale, Brittany, France. Water Quality

Bacteriological water quality is monitored under European Directive 2006 classification protocols. Historical quality data for bathing waters are available from 2013-2020. The monitoring includes E. coli concentrations in shellfish and phytoplankton surveillance data from IFREMER monitoring points at Cancale Nord and Mont-Saint-Michel.

Risks

Potential risks include macro-algae proliferation (ulves blooms documented on the Breton coast) and phytoplankton bloom potential. Discharge outlets from the Petit-Port stream and other exutories are identified as potential pollution sources. Wastewater management systems and storm water drainage networks are evaluated as potential contamination sources.
