Petit-Port is a bathing beach located in Cancale, Brittany, France. Cancale, Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany, France. The beach is part of the commune of Cancale and is located on the Breton coast.

Water Quality

Bacteriological water quality is monitored under European Directive 2006 classification protocols. Historical quality data for bathing waters are available from 2013-2020. The monitoring includes E. coli concentrations in shellfish and phytoplankton surveillance data from IFREMER monitoring points at Cancale Nord and Mont-Saint-Michel.

Risks

Potential risks include macro-algae proliferation (ulves blooms documented on the Breton coast) and phytoplankton bloom potential. Discharge outlets from the Petit-Port stream and other exutories are identified as potential pollution sources. Wastewater management systems and storm water drainage networks are evaluated as potential contamination sources.
