Water Quality

Water quality monitoring was conducted from 2013 to 2020. The beach is subject to bacteriological monitoring under the 2006 directive. Potential pollution sources have been identified including wastewater discharge outlets, agricultural runoff, and stormwater systems. Monitoring for macro-algae proliferation and phytoplankton has been conducted at nearby REPHY surveillance points.

Risks

Potential for macro-algae blooms (ulves) has been documented in the region. Stormwater discharge and collective and non-collective wastewater systems represent potential pollution sources. Shellfish farming areas are located nearby, indicating some environmental sensitivity.
