Lido Porlezza

Italy Lake 3 - Sufficient

Lido is a bathing area located at the northeastern tip of Lake Lugano (Ceresio) in Porlezza, Lombardy, where the Rezzo and Cuccio streams meet. The beach features a park with grass and gravel, providing free public access. The surrounding landscape includes the Luganesi Prealps.

Water

Lake Lugano (Ceresio), situated at an altitude of 275 metres above sea level. The water body is part of the Ticino hydrographic basin.

Location

Porlezza, Lombardy, Italy, at the extreme northern end of Lake Lugano. The beach is approximately 100 centimetres wide with nearby facilities including a campground, equipped lido, bar, picnic area, and children's playground.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Sufficient (based on 2019–2022 monitoring period). No exceedances of cyanobacterial thresholds have been recorded in the past four years. No anthropogenic activities known to promote eutrophication or cyanobacterial growth have been identified.

Risks

Possible short-duration pollution events including land runoff, stagnant water, and spillage of various materials. Possible accidental or unauthorised discharges of wastewater or polluting debris. Adverse meteorological conditions such as severe weather events may create unfavourable conditions.
