Italy Lake 3 - Sufficient

Spiaggia Comunale is a beach located within the Piano Lake Nature Reserve in Carlazzo, Lombardy. The lake is situated in a natural depression between two alluvial cones, surrounded by fields, reed beds, and dense forest on the slopes of Monte Galbiga. The beach area lies approximately midway between Menaggio and Porlezza at an elevation of 481 metres above sea level.

Piano Lake, a naturally formed lake in a depression between two alluvial cones, fed by a rich groundwater aquifer. Part of the Ticino river basin.

Location

Carlazzo, Lombardy, Italy, approximately midway between Menaggio and Porlezza. Beach width is approximately 30 metres.

Facilities

Camping available in the vicinity. Animals are permitted access.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is sufficient for the reference period 2021–2024. No exceedances of cyanobacterial thresholds have been recorded in the past four years. No toxic effects on bathers or aquatic environments have been documented.

Risks

Possible accidental or unauthorised discharges of wastewater or polluting debris from land drainage, standing water, and various spillages have been identified as potential short-term pollution events. No previous cyanobacterial or macroalgal proliferation events have been recorded in the past four years.
