Lago sud is a sandy bathing water located in Castellabate, in the Campania region. The area is characterized by low coastal terrain with intense urbanization and predominantly agricultural surrounding territory. The beach has a sandy shoreline and has maintained an excellent water quality classification throughout 2020–2023.

Location

Castellabate, Salerno Province, Campania region, Italy. The bathing area is situated along a low-lying coast with a sandy beach.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2023). Monitoring conducted under Italian Legislative Decree 116/2008.

Risks

Identified pollution sources include: torrente Ficonegra on the west side; a concrete discharge pipe (approximately 30 cm diameter) in via Lungomare near villa del Sole, civic number 72; and a shipyard on the east side. Two wastewater treatment plants discharge into Vallone Valsella and Vallone Arena.
