Mamoa is a river bathing water located on the Ul River, a tributary of the Antuã river, in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira. The bathing area is situated at the river beach in Milheirós de Poiares.

Season

June 28 to August 31, 2025. Sampling frequency: 2 times per week.

Water Quality

Water quality classification in 2024 under Decreto-Lei 135/09. A bathing ban was imposed from July 17 to July 19, 2024 due to high microbiological indicator values resulting from intense precipitation and diffuse pollution sources. Water quality returned to bathing suitability class on July 17, 2025. Bathing was advised against or prohibited for 3 days during the 2024 bathing season due to short-term pollution events.

Risks

Diffuse pollution sources upstream from agricultural or forestry activities, solid waste from beach activities, and high number of users. Potential for cyanobacteria and phytoplankton proliferation.
