Marinella Ovest is a sandy and pebbly beach located in the Magra River estuary near Sarzana in Liguria. The beach has extensive sandy stretches and is backed by agricultural land with cattle farming. The area has bathing establishments and supports swimming and recreation.

Coastal water body at the mouth of the Magra River. Area extends 2.098 square kilometres. Category: coastal waters with medium stability on alluvial plain.

Lifeguard and first aid services, disabled access facilities, toilets, food and beverage outlets.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2011–2014). No coastal wastewater treatment plants present; during heavy rainfall, agricultural drainage from the Fosso degli Stagni enters the bathing area.

Risks

During violent precipitation events, stormwater from agricultural drainage channels enters the water through the Fosso degli Stagni. Cyanobacteria blooms do not occur due to oligotrophic conditions. No toxic algal proliferation has been recorded.
