Attersee is a 20-hectare recreational area in the western part of Osnabrück, created through sand extraction for the construction of the Hansalinie railway. It features a 6-hectare water surface surrounded by the Tecklenburger Land, the Teutoburger Wald nature reserve, and the Wiehengebirge mountains. Since the early 1970s, the site has been privately owned and developed into a camping and leisure facility.
