Buddenkuhle is an artificial lake located in Ladbergen, Germany, managed by Regenbogen AG Camp Ladbergen. It covers an area of 10 hectares with a sandy bottom and substrate. The bathing water has been officially designated since 2009 and has received an excellent rating for water quality in the years 2021 through 2024.

Artificial lake with 10 hectares surface area. Maximum depth 13 meters, mean depth 7 meters. Water temperature ranges from 16.6°C to 24.0°C (mean 20.7°C). Water transparency exceeds 2 meters. pH ranges from 8.2 to 8.7 (mean 8.4). Water exchange occurs through groundwater flow with a replacement time exceeding 30 days. Water level fluctuations reach 1 meter. The catchment area covers 10–100 square kilometers. Elevation below 200 meters above sea level.

Location

Buddenkuhle 1, 49549 Ladbergen, Germany. The bathing area encompasses a 75-meter shoreline section. The site is part of a campground with 406 pitches and 1,000 square meters of sealed surface area.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024). Nutrient status is mesotrophic (2–). No relevant pollution sources identified. Municipal treatment plants, industrial treatment plants, and household treatment systems are present in the catchment area but have no relevant impact on water quality. Agricultural runoff occurs in the immediate vicinity but is not considered a relevant threat.

Risks

No cyanobacterial blooms observed within the past four years. No danger of future cyanobacterial mass development. No macroalgae or phytoplankton blooms observed. No risk from cercariae (swimmer's itch). No contamination of sediments detected.
