The lake extends 1.3 km in an east-west direction and is about 250 m wide, with a surface area of 30.27 hectares and a maximum depth of 28 m. The lake is fed entirely by groundwater with no natural inflows or outflows. Water quality has improved significantly following restoration measures implemented since the 1980s, including the cessation of wastewater and manure discharge and the installation of deep water extraction and plant-based treatment systems.
