Nord Foce Sarno is a bathing water area in Torre Annunziata, Naples, consisting of sandy beach and artificial rocky shoreline with coastal defence structures. The coast is low-lying and intensely urbanised with industrial facilities and a port area to the north of the site. The bathing water has been classified as poor quality for the years 2020–2023.

Location

Torre Annunziata, Naples province, Campania region, Italy. The monitoring point is located at the mouth of the Sarno River.

Water Quality

Classification: Poor (based on 2020–2023 monitoring data under Legislative Decree 116/2008). Wastewater is directed to the Foce Sarno treatment plant.

Risks

Sarno River, identified overflow point (SFC2), and three discharge points (SC1, SC2, SC3) are pollution sources. The new Contesarno canal (SB1) is also identified as a potential source.
