Pen Bron is a bathing beach located in La Turballe, a coastal commune in Loire-Atlantique in the Pays de la Loire region. The beach is situated on the Atlantic Ocean and is part of a cordon of dunes including Grande Falaise. It experiences strong seasonal frequency during the bathing season. The beach has maintained excellent and stable water quality for over 10 years.

Atlantic Ocean bathing site. The zone of study extends 1200 meters from a stormwater discharge outlet.

Location

La Turballe, Loire-Atlantique, Pays de la Loire region. The beach is located on the Atlantic coast with an opening to the ocean to the west.

15 June to 15 September

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent under Directive 2006/7/CE for periods 2004-2007, 2005-2008, 2006-2009, and 2007-2010. Under Directive 76/160/CEE, classified as 10A (good quality) for years 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Water quality has been excellent and stable for more than 10 years. Two bacteriological pollution episodes were recorded: 20 August 2002 and 17 June 2008, neither resulting in bathing prohibition.

Risks

A stormwater discharge outlet located 1200 meters from the bathing zone presents weak to moderate impact on water quality.
