Peneda Talhada is a bathing water located on the Rio Alva river at the border of Secarias in the Mondego river basin. The surrounding area is a natural space. The bathing water is monitored weekly during the official bathing season.

Municipality of Arganil. Monitoring point coordinates: Latitude 40°14'11.89"N, Longitude 8°3'4.76"W.

Season

June 28th to August 31st, 2025. Sampling frequency: once per week.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored and classified according to Decreto-Lei 135/09 of June 3rd, amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012 of May 23rd. No short-term pollution events occurred during the 2024 bathing season. Water quality information is available at www.apambiente.pt, www.snirh.pt, and infoagua.apambiente.pt.

Risks

Potential microbiological pollution sources include solid waste from beach activities, surface runoff, and high numbers of users. Cyanobacteria proliferation is likely. An alert system is in place to inform bathers of necessary measures if water quality changes.
