Long sandy beach located in the urban area of Peniche at the west end of Baleal bay. The beach is situated within the urban perimeter of Peniche and is frequently visited. It features an extensive sandy area and calm waters.

Location

Peniche municipality. The sampling point is located at latitude 39.362283°, longitude -9.36835° (ETRS89).

Season

June 12 to September 12, 2021. Sampling frequency is triweekly during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification was assessed in 2020 under Decreto-Lei 135/09. No significant microbiological pollution sources exist near this bathing water. No short-term pollution events were recorded in the 2020 bathing season.

Risks

The potential for proliferation of cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton is unlikely. No history of short-term pollution events exists.
