Pensione Lori is a bathing beach in Senigallia, located in the Marche region of Italy. The beach is composed of calcareous gravel with an average slope of 5% in both emerged and submerged areas. The beach extends 1000 metres in length and 50 metres in width, with a distance of 50 metres between medium-low and high water levels. The surrounding area consists of urban and tourist settlements with railway lines passing through.

Coastal marine water body. Beach composed of calcareous gravel. Slope of 5% in emerged and submerged areas. Distance between medium-low and high water: 50 metres. Astronomical tide range: 30–50 centimetres. Beach area: 1000 metres long and 50 metres wide.

Senigallia, Ancona Province, Marche region, Italy. The beach is designated Pensione Lori. Parking and facilities are available at nearby bathing establishments.

Bars, restaurants, toilets, and bathing establishments. No animal access permitted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Category E. Monitoring shows E. coli measurements from 2010 ranging from below determination limit to 300 UFC/100 ml across monthly tests. Sewage treatment via activated sludge facility with capacity of 20,000 cubic metres per day serving approximately 39,300 urban inhabitants. Multiple natural watercourse outlets with overflow mechanisms discharge into the bathing area.

Risks

Overflow discharges from mixed sewerage network during intense rainfall events. In April 2007, an oil spill from Raffineria API resulted in temporary closure of the bathing area. Phytoplankton bloom of Fibrocapsa japonica occurred in August 2009, causing brown-reddish discoloration and oily water consistency.
