Piana di Velia is a sandy beach located in Ascea, Salerno Province, in the Campania region. The beach features tourist structures along the shoreline and is characterized by intense urbanization parallel to the coast. The Fiumarella stream mouth is present in the area.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent (2020–2023). Three urban wastewater treatment plants serve the area: one at Terradura with discharge into Vallone Nociforo, one at Scifro serving localities Scifro, Stampella, and Salice with discharge into Scifro canal, and one at Ascea Marina Petroso with submarine pipeline discharge.

Possible pollution sources identified: Alento river mouth on the western side, pumping station at Piana di Velia locality serving the Petroso treatment plant, Fiumarella stream mouth near the sampling point, and pumping station at Ascea Marina serving the Petroso treatment plant.
