Torre del Telegrafo is a bathing water area located in Ascea, Salerno province, Campania region. The beach comprises sandy and rocky sections with tourist facilities along the shoreline. A rocky promontory and urbanization are located to the south of the stretch. The surrounding territory is semi-natural with low vegetation.

Coastal bathing water comprising sandy and rocky sections along the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Location

Ascea, Salerno province, Campania region, Italy. The bathing area is situated along a sandy and rocky coastline with nearby tourist infrastructure.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2023). Monitored under Legislative Decree 30.05.08 n. 116. Three urban wastewater treatment plants serve the area: a biological treatment plant with activated sludge at Terradura discharging to Vallone Nociforo; a biological treatment plant at Scifro discharging to Scifro channel; and a biological treatment plant at Ascea Marina (Petroso) with submarine discharge.

Risks

Possible pollution sources identified: a pumping station at Ascea Marina (Petroso) serving the treatment plant on the western side; and a water collection system on the eastern side where two valleys converge.
