Castel Volturno, Caserta Province, Campania region. Monitoring point coordinates: 41.0753°N, 13.9017°E.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2023, according to Legislative Decree 116/2008). The bathing water is affected by the Agnena River mouth, which receives direct and indirect discharges of wastewater from municipal sewerage networks, some served by treatment plants and some without treatment.

Risks

The Agnena River mouth receives wastewater from multiple municipalities with varying levels of treatment. Several communes discharge untreated sewerage (Francolise, Giano Vetusto, Grazzanise), and treated industrial discharges also enter the river.
