La Badine is a sandy beach located in Hyères, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southern France. The beach is 1 kilometre long and 20 metres wide, with a northeast orientation and open configuration. It is used for swimming and non-motorised water activities and experiences high visitor numbers. The beach is managed as a concession by the Métropole, with municipal oversight extending 300 metres into the water.

Hyères, Var department, France. Access via Boulevard d'Alsace Lorraine followed by pedestrian pathway. No parking available. Coordinates: N 43°02'17.3" - E 6°09'07.0".

1 toilet. No lifeguard station. No first aid post. No showers. No drinking water point. No disabled access. No equipment for water access for disabled persons. Bins for household waste available. No animals permitted. No restaurants or beach chalets.

Water Quality

2022 final classification: Excellent. Microbiological monitoring follows EU Directive 2006/7/CE. No microbiological pollution was recorded in 2019 or 2021. Preventive closures occurred on 4 June 2020 and 28 June and 14 September 2022 due to adverse weather conditions, with no contamination detected. No chemical pollution was recorded from 2019 to 2022. No biological pollution was recorded from 2019 to 2022. Visual monitoring of water conditions is conducted during ARS or self-surveillance sampling.

Risks

Bacterial pollution risk in dry conditions: low risk from street runoff via storm drains; low risk from pump station overflow or network backup causing sewage discharge. Bacterial pollution risk in rainy conditions: low to moderate risk from the same sources. Medium risk from mooring zone contamination in dry conditions. Chemical pollution sources identified include hydrocarbons from transport routes and ship discharge, phytosanitary products from agriculture, nitrates from fertilizers and livestock effluent, phosphates from fertilizers and domestic/industrial discharge, heavy metals from incineration, and PCBs from daily use items.
