Les Pins is a semi-open beach located in the commune of Saint-Brévin-les-Pins. The bathing water profile was established in December 2010 in accordance with European Directive 2006/7/CE on bathing water quality. The beach has been classified as having good water quality since 2009 and excellent quality since 2009 under the 2006/7/CE directive criteria.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent since 2009 under Directive 2006/7/CE criteria. Previously classified as good in 2008, and good or medium quality under the earlier Directive 76/160/CEE between 2005 and 2008. No cyanobacterial blooms or green tide phenomena have been reported on the coastal waters.

Risks

Potential contamination from stormwater outlets (R-5750, R-6750, R-7000). Seven pumping stations on the wastewater network can discharge during overflow events, particularly PR Villa, Branly, and Fief where overflows have occurred during summer periods since 2006. Incorrect sewer connections identified. Avian pollution due to location within a bird protection area (ZICO). Jellyfish regularly arrive at the beach. Risk of flooding by sea surge affects the immediate/nearby area. Heavy rainfall events exceeding 15 mm are rare during summer (12 events over 5 seasons between 2005-2009), resulting in low summer pollution risk from rainfall.
