Lacs de la Monnerie is a bathing spot located in La Flèche featuring a sandy beach with a maximum depth of 2.40 metres in the main swimming area. The site combines swimming with other water activities including sailing, kayaking, and pedal boating. Shaded and sunny grassed areas surround the beach, and an asphalt path of 3200 metres is available for walkers and sports enthusiasts. Water quality is classified as excellent according to Ministry of Health criteria. The site serves between 800 and 1500 visitors per day during sunny periods.

Water

A lake fed by groundwater and influenced by the Loir river level. Maximum length 1000 metres. Maximum depth 10–11 metres. Estimated surface area 34 hectares. Sandy beach with depths of 0.70 metres (shallow area), 1.70 metres (medium area), and 2.40 metres (deep area). Water transparency averages approximately 1 metre.

Location

La Flèche, in the Loir valley region. The main entrance is near a footbridge at the sailing base. Parking and access facilities are available.

Facilities

Lifeguards present during official monitoring season. Rescue post with toilets open during surveillance period. Automatic toilets (accessible for disabled persons) available year-round. Two sanitary facilities at beach entrance and two at rescue post. Information signs at main entrance and rescue post. Waste bins at regular intervals and selective waste collection points. Daily waste collection.

Season

Mid-May to early September. Mid-May to first weekend of July: supervision on Wednesdays and weekends. Remainder of summer season: daily supervision.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent according to Ministry of Health criteria, with maintenance of this classification over the last three years. Bacteriological results conform to standards. Occasional cyanobacteria presence occurs for 2–4 days during the summer season, affecting water transparency. No dermatitis cases have been reported to municipal services.

Risks

Occasional cyanobacteria proliferation corresponding to significant temperature differences between day and night. Potential flooding of the Loir river with discharge into the lake (last occurrence in 2004). Low risk of accidental pollution from nearby road (RD 323). Presence of significant numbers of birds potentially accessing the swimming zone. Manual removal of Ludwigia (water plant) is required.
