The water mass has been classified as having poor status. Microbiological monitoring shows E. coli and enterococcus concentrations with data from 2008-2010 indicating variations across the bathing season.

Risks

Risk of short-duration contamination from occasional discharges associated with precipitation events, classified with yellow alert due to precipitation intensity. The adjacent shellfish production zone (GAL 04/03 Esteiro Rio Eume) is classified as Class C with historical contamination precedents.
