Playa Bolnuevo is a natural beach in Mazarrón located on the Mediterranean coast within the Segura River Basin. The beach spans 1600 metres in length with an average width of 80 metres and features golden sand composition. It experiences high occupancy and is classified as an urban beach with a promenade. The water renewal rate is less than seven days, and the beach can accommodate approximately 5500 bathers daily.

Coastal maritime water body. Length 1600 metres, average width 80 metres. Golden sand bottom. Microtidal range (less than 2 metres). Water renewal rate less than 7 days.

Location

Mazarrón, in the Segura River Basin on the Mediterranean coast. The control point is located at UTM coordinates 649589.85, 4158744.96 (Zone 30 N), latitude 37.561743°, longitude -1.307545°.

Facilities

Toilets (2), lavapiés (6). No showers or changing rooms.

Water Quality

Water quality was classified as excellent during 2000–2009, 2010, and 2011. The beach is located within the coastal water mass 'Punta de La Azohía-Puntas de Calnegre', which has good ecological status. Toxic phytoplankton blooms are a natural phenomenon rarely affecting public health; sampling in 2008 and 2009 showed practically no potentially toxic cells. Risk of toxic phytoplankton episodes is null or very low.

Risks

Jellyfish blooms occur seasonally, with peak abundance from early spring to late summer. Production is highly variable. Risk of short-duration jellyfish episodes is low.
