Cerrillos is a natural beach in El Ejido, Almería, located on the Mediterranean coast. The beach extends 4370 metres in length with an average width of 70 metres and features dark sand composition. Swimming conditions involve moderate waves and wind exposure, with a low occupation rate. The area is classified as an isolated, unurbanised beach with a natural protected zone designation.

Mediterranean coastal waters influenced by Atlantic waters. Deep water with muddy-sandy substrate. Micromareal tidal range (0-2 metres). Currents dominant towards east, east-southeast, and east-northeast. Waves dominant from east and east-northeast associated with levante wind. Moderately exposed to wave action.

Location

El Ejido, Almería, Andalucía. Easy foot access and vehicle access available. The nearest sports port is at Roquetas de Mar, 7 kilometres away.

Facilities

Surveillance equipment present. Rubbish bins and cleaning service available. No lifeguards, toilets, showers, disabled access, signage, boardwalk, or water sports facilities.

Season

1 June to 30 September.

Water quality classification: Excellent for all seasons 2013–2016. Low short-duration microbiological contamination risk from diffuse sources related to land use in the influence zone and natural forest surfaces. Low risk of jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation.
