Coastal maritime bathing zone in the Cantabrian Sea. The beach is 400 metres long with an average width of 70 metres. Anchoring is permitted in the area.

Location

Alfoz de Lloredo, Cantabria, Spain. The beach is accessed via the CN-131 road. Parking is available with 50 spaces. The nearest city is Suances, located 20 kilometres away. Interurban bus transport is available.

Lifeguard service available. Showers present. Rubbish bins provided. Signage present. Red Cross post available. Local police present. Accessible walkways available. Accessible services for disabled visitors present. No toilets. No blue flag designation. No beach umbrellas or deck chairs for hire. No kiosk. No water sports services or boat rental.

Water Quality

Annual bathing water classification from 2005 to 2010 shows 'Good' (2005–2008) and 'Excellent' (2009–2010) ratings. From 2011, the classification was 'Sufficient'. Chlorophyll 'a' concentration in the Oyambre estuary zone is below 5 µg/l. Phytoplankton density in Cantabrian estuaries is homogeneous and very low, below 5,000,000 cells/l. Two urban discharge points are identified: one from Ayto. Alfoz de Lloredo (continuous discharge, last inspected 30 December 2008) and one from EDAR Cóbreces (continuous discharge, last inspected 13 September 2010).

Risks

Low risk of non-compliance with Directive 2006/7/CE. No significant risk from cyanobacteria, macroalgae, or phytoplankton proliferation.
