Aigua Morta is a sandy beach located in the municipality of Oliva in Valencia province, Spain. The beach has a longitudinal open configuration without defense structures or a seafront promenade. It extends 2,220.4 metres along the shoreline with an average width of 37.4 metres. The beach is composed of artificial sand and is classified as a low-accumulation coastal zone with micro-tidal range.

Water

Marine bathing zone in the Júcar hydrographic demarcation. The water body is classified as a coastal water mass (CW Costera) with typology 1. The coastal water mass is in good environmental status. Tidal range is micro-tidal. Current direction flows from south to north.

Location

Oliva, Valencia province, Spain. The beach is bordered to the north by Rabdells beach and to the south by Les Deveses beach. Parking is available. Access is provided for persons with disabilities.

Facilities

Lifeguards (servicio de salvamento y socorrismo), free public toilets, foot-washing showers, accessible parking, beach bar/kiosk, waste bins, safety barriers/buoys. Additional services include scooter rental, sun lounger rental, umbrella rental, and kiosk facilities. Disabled access is available. Accessible Point Service (Punto Accesible) is not available.

Season

1 June to 15 September.

Water Quality

Water quality classification shows excellent rating. The bathing zone is monitored weekly during the bathing season. The monitoring point (Oliva nova) has been operational since 1987. Quality assessment is based on visual inspection parameters and water analysis. The River Vedat/Bullent discharges directly into the coastal zone at high risk level with continuous flow.

Risks

River Vedat/Bullent represents a high-risk discharge point with continuous flow. The study notes that short-duration contamination factors related to rainfall, urban sanitation, and coastal discharges have low frequency and mild impact. Industrial installations, port facilities, and diffuse pollution have low frequency and mild impact. No cyanobacteria proliferation episodes have been detected in Valencian coastal waters.
