Playa de la Casica Verde is a bathing beach in Águilas located on the Mediterranean coast in the Segura River Basin hydrographic demarcation. The beach is 350 metres long with an average width of 20 metres and features golden sand with moderate wave conditions. It is a regenerated beach with a semi-urban character and medium occupancy levels.

Location

Águilas, near Lorca. The nearest hospital is Rafael Méndez, approximately 38 kilometres away on the Granada road at kilometre 586. The beach is located near Puerto Deportivo Juan Montiel. Accessible by foot and vehicle. Parking available with 50–100 spaces, not supervised. Nearest main road is N-332.

Facilities

Cleaning service available. Underwater diving zone designated. No lifeguards, no toilets, no showers, no foot wash facilities, no waste bins, no tourism office, no telephone, no food or drink establishments, no sun lounger or umbrella rental, no watersports rental, no nautical club, no children's zone, no sports zone. Disabled access not available.

2019 monitoring period: 16 September to 23 September.

Water Quality

Water quality from 2017–2019 classified as excellent. 2019 E. coli: 0–26 UFC/100ml; Enterococcus: 0–10 UFC/100ml. 2018 E. coli: 0–14 UFC/100ml; Enterococcus: 0–38 UFC/100ml. 2017 E. coli: 0–8 UFC/100ml; Enterococcus: 0–98 UFC/100ml. No practically detectable toxic phytoplankton cells during any monitoring campaigns throughout the bathing season.

Risks

Jellyfish appear seasonally with variable frequency, primarily in early spring and late summer. From 16–23 September 2019, health authorities issued a bathing recommendation against swimming due to suspected deficient sanitary water quality caused by heavy rainfall runoff in preceding days.
