Playa Matalentisco is a naturally formed bathing beach in Águilas located in the Mediterranean Sea. The beach is 350 meters long with an average width of 25 meters and features golden sand. Water renewal occurs within less than 7 days. The beach experiences medium occupancy and is used primarily on weekends for recreational purposes, with an estimated maximum of 3,500 bathers.

Water Quality

Water quality was classified as excellent in 2008–2009, 2010, and 2011. The beach is located in the coastal water body 'Puntas de Calnegre-Punta Parda', which has a good ecological status. No significant pollution sources identified; no authorized discharges in the proximate area.

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton proliferation is a natural phenomenon rarely affecting public health. Monitoring in 2008 and 2009 showed negligible or no presence of potentially toxic cells throughout the bathing season. Risk level: null or very low. Jellyfish appear seasonally with peak abundance between early spring and late summer.
