Playa de La Fossa is a maritime bathing area located in Calpe, Alicante province in the Valencia region. The beach has a longitudinal open configuration with a rigid maritime promenade and no defensive structures. It is bounded to the north by Calalga beach and to the south by El Racó beach. The beach receives high densities of swimmers during the bathing season.

Water

Maritime bathing zone in the Júcar hydrological district. High-accumulation low-lying coast with sand composition of artificial origin. High-tide line length is 935.7 m with a mean width of 35.1 m. Currents flow from south to north. The area experiences microtidal range. Annual precipitation in the zone is 246 mm.

Located in the municipality of Calpe, Alicante province, Valencia region. Parking is available. The beach has accessible facilities including disabled access and an Accessible Point Service.

Water Quality

Water quality classification shows excellent quality for the monitoring point Calle Jávea across the 2020–2023 bathing seasons. The coastal water body achieves very good status under the Water Framework Directive. No direct discharge to the coast affects water quality. Low-frequency and mild-impact risks are associated with rainfall, urban sewerage, and coastal discharge.

Cyanobacteria proliferation does not occur in Valencian coastal waters.
