Piles Beach is a 1,475.9-meter-long sandy beach located in the municipality of Piles in Valencia province, Spain. The beach has a low-lying accumulation coast configuration with an artificial sand composition and rigid seafront promenade. It is bounded to the north by Miramar Beach and to the south by Terranova Beach. The beach has an open longitudinal configuration without defensive structures.

Water

Marine bathing water in the Júcar River Basin District, classified as a coastal water body. The beach has a shoreline length of 1,475.9 meters and a mean width of 43.1 meters. The water body experiences microtidal ranges with currents flowing from south to north.

Location

Piles municipality, Valencia province, Valencian Community, Spain. The beach is accessible with parking available. Disabled access and an accessible point service are provided.

Facilities

Lifeguard and rescue services, free public toilets, foot showers, waste bins with selective recycling, parking, beach bar, accessible facilities with accessible point service, buoying system. Additional activities include scooter rental, sun lounger rental, umbrella rental, and kiosk services.

Season

June 1 to September 15.

Water Quality

The water body is classified as having good status under the Water Framework Directive. Water quality monitoring is conducted weekly during the bathing season from June 1 to September 15. The sampling point is located at Hostal Gloriamar. Classifications of Excellent, Good, Sufficient, or Insufficient are assigned based on water analysis, water appearance, and sand cleanliness.

Risks

Two discharge outlets directly to the coast are present: Gola del Gat (mixed origin, 9-meter width, continuous discharge, medium risk) and Acequia de Piles or Beneteixir (mixed origin, 15-meter width, sporadic discharge, medium risk). A submarine outfall from Gandía–La Safor wastewater treatment plant serves the municipalities including Piles. Potential contamination factors from rainfall, urban wastewater systems, and coastal discharges are classified as low frequency with mild effects. Phytoplankton blooms may occur naturally in the Mediterranean but are not typical in this coastal zone.
