Playa de Bol Nou is a closed cove beach located in La Villajoyosa, Alicante, in the Valencian Community. The beach has a shoreline length of 242.1 metres and an average width of 30.6 metres, with a substrate composed of boulders and sand. It is bordered to the north by Playa Paradis and to the south by Playa La Caleta, with a picnic area adjoining the beach. The beach has no defensive structures and is situated in an urban area.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excelente (Excellent). Monitoring point established in 1989. No direct discharges to the coastline affect water quality. No urban sewage connections or natural geographical features that would cause anomalous variations in water quality exist. Sewage treatment plant EDAR La Vila Joiosa has a design flow of 18000 m³/d with treatment level 3 + ultraviolet, serving a population of 98545 inhabitants. Effluent is discharged to Río Amadorio.

Risks

Low frequency, mild impact from: rainfall, urban sewage systems, coastal discharges, rivers/channels, industrial installations, port facilities, and diffuse pollution. No cyanobacteria proliferation has been detected on the Valencian coast. Phytoplankton and jellyfish proliferation are possible natural phenomena associated with geomorphology and climatic conditions.
