Playa El Tabal is a natural sandy beach located in San Javier within La Manga del Mar Menor on the Mediterranean coast. The beach stretches 1,100 metres in length with an average width of 15 metres and features golden sand. It is designated as a suitable bathing zone with high occupancy and urban development, accommodating approximately 6,435 maximum swimmers daily. The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag designation.

Water

Mediterranean Sea coastal waters in the Segura River Basin demarcation. The water body has a micromarc tidal amplitude of less than 2 metres and water renewal occurs within 7 days. Sandy golden bottom composition.

San Javier, La Manga del Mar Menor, Mediterranean coast. Located at UTM coordinates 700365.61 E, 4172273.52 N (Zone 30N), latitude 37.673947°, longitude -0.729297°.

Water Quality

Water quality was classified as excellent during 2000–2009 and remained excellent in 2010 and 2011. No significant pollution pressure identified. The water body is classified as having good ecological status. Toxic phytoplankton monitoring in 2008 and 2009 detected practically no potentially toxic cells throughout the bathing season.

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton proliferation is a natural phenomenon that rarely affects public health or ecosystems in this area, with negligible risk. Jellyfish appear seasonally with peak abundance from early spring to late summer; their production is highly variable.
