Playa La Cola is a natural beach in Águilas located on the Mediterranean coast within the Segura River Basin hydrographic demarcation. The beach extends 1,000 metres in length with an average width of 15 metres and features a golden sand bottom composed of rocks and gravel. It is a semirural beach with low occupancy, primarily used by local residents for recreational swimming.

Water Quality

Water quality was classified as excellent during 2000–2009. In 2010, quality was classified as good. In 2011, quality returned to excellent. The beach is located in the coastal water body 'Puntas de Calnegre–Punta Parda', which has good ecological status. No significant pollution pressure identified. No authorized discharges in the immediate area.

Risks

Jellyfish proliferation occurs seasonally, with peak abundance from early spring to late summer. Short-duration jellyfish episodes are unlikely. Toxic phytoplankton has not been sampled in this area.
