La Garrofa is a natural coastal bathing water located on the Mediterranean coast near Almería, Spain. The beach is 205 meters long with an average width of 20 meters and features gravel composition. Water conditions are calm with moderate wave exposure dominated by easterly winds. The beach has a medium occupation level and is isolated with easy pedestrian access.

Mediterranean coastal water. Bathymetry shows deep waters with mud and sand substrate. Tidal range is microtidal (0–2 meters). Current regime is dominant towards the east, ESE, and ENE. Wave regime is dominant from the east and ENE associated with Levante wind.

Location

Almería municipality in Andalucía, Spain, on the Litoral de Almería coast. The nearest sports ports are Almería and Aguadulce, 6 kilometers away. Access is on foot and easy to reach.

Cleaning service is available. No Red Cross post, no rescue equipment, no surveillance equipment, no danger signaling, no lifeguards, no toilets, no showers, no disabled access, no waste bins, no maritime rentals, no sailing club, and no scuba diving zone.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent for all four monitoring seasons from 2013 to 2016. Water quality is influenced by Atlantic and Mediterranean waters. Microbiological contamination risk is low and short-duration. Jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation risks are all low.

Risks

Low-grade short-duration microbiological risk from diffuse sources including land use in the influence zone, built and altered surfaces, and the Rambla de la Garrota river course.
