La Rijana is a natural coastal bathing beach located in Granada, Andalucía, stretching 365 meters in length with an average width of 20 meters. The beach features dark sand and tranquil bathing conditions. It is situated in an isolated, undeveloped area within a protected zone (LIC designation). The beach experiences low occupancy and is easily accessible on foot or by car.

Water

Mediterranean coastal water body with deep waters and muddy-sandy substrate. Micromareal tidal range of 0-2 meters. Currents are dominant towards the east, east-southeast, and east-northeast. Wave exposure is moderate with dominant waves from the east and east-northeast associated with Levante wind. Annual precipitation ranges from 200-400 mm with a torrent intensity index of 25-50%.

La Rijana is located in Gualchos municipality, Granada province, Andalucía. Access is available on foot or by car. No parking information is specified.

Water quality classification: Excellent in 2014, 2015, and 2016; Very good in 2013. Microbiological contamination risk is low with short-duration effects (24 hours). Diffuse pollution sources include land use in the influence zone, forest and natural surfaces. The Barranco de Zacatín is the relevant watercourse.
