La Ventilla is a naturally formed Mediterranean coastal bathing water located in Roquetas de Mar, Almería. The beach extends 1,035 meters in length with an average width of 30 meters and features dark sand, boulders, and gravel. Bathing conditions are characterized by calm waters with moderate wave exposure. The beach is lightly occupied and semiurbanized, situated within a protected natural area (LIC and Natural Monument). Water quality has consistently achieved excellent classification across all monitored seasons from 2013 to 2016.

Water

Mediterranean coastal water. The water mass is identified as Guardias Viejas - Rambla de Morales. Batimetry indicates deep waters with muddy and sandy substrate. Microtidal range of 0–2 meters. Current regime is dominantly oriented toward the E, ESE, and ENE. Wave regime is dominated by winds from the E and ENE (levante wind). Annual precipitation is 200–400 mm with a torrentiality index of 25–50%.

Location

Roquetas de Mar, Almería, Andalucía, Spain. The beach is accessible on foot and by car. A sports marina is located 4 kilometers away in Roquetas de Mar.

Red Cross post present. Surveillance equipment available. Hazard signage present. Waste bins provided. Cleaning service available. Anchoring zone available. No lifeguard equipment, no toilets, no showers, no disabled access, no boardwalks, no seaside promenade, no watersport rental, no nautical club, no underwater diving zone.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent for 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Monitoring period reported: 2013–2016. Short-term microbiological contamination risk is classified as low. The contamination risk methodology employed deterministic analysis according to UNE 150008 standard. Diffuse pollution sources include land uses, built surfaces, and altered areas. The course of Rambla de las Hortichuelas is identified as a hydrological course in the area.

Risks

Proliferation risks are low for jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae. Short-term microbiological contamination risk is classified as low.
