Lagos is a coastal bathing beach located in Vélez-Málaga, Málaga province, Andalucía. The beach is 300 metres long with a mean width of 5 metres and has medium occupancy. It features gravel composition and moderate wave conditions. The beach is semi-urbanised with access by car.

Water

Mediterranean coastal water body influenced by Atlantic waters. Deep water with mud and sand substrate. Micromareal range of 0–2 metres. Currents are dominant towards the northeast. Wave regime is dominantly from the east and east-southeast associated with levante wind. Moderately exposed to wave action.

Location

Vélez-Málaga, Málaga province, Andalucía. Access is by car. The beach is part of the Litoral de Málaga coastal area.

Season

1 June to 30 September

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent in all seasons from 2013 to 2016. Low-risk microbiological contamination of short duration (24 hours). Diffuse pollution sources include agricultural land use, built surfaces, and altered land in the influence zone. The Río de Lagos flows into this water body.

Risks

Medium risk of jellyfish proliferation. Low risk of phytoplankton and macroalgae proliferation.
