Mezquitilla is a natural Mediterranean coastal bathing water located in Algarrobo, Málaga, Andalucía. The beach stretches for 650 metres with an average width of 30 metres and is composed of gravel. It experiences moderate wave conditions with a moderately exposed shoreline. The beach is highly occupied and urbanised with pedestrian and vehicular access available.

Natural Mediterranean coastal waters influenced by Atlantic waters. Deep water bathymetry with muddy sand substrate. Micromareal range of 0–2 metres. Current regime dominates towards the northeast. Wave regime is dominant from the east and east-southeast associated with Levante wind. Annual precipitation ranges from 400–600 mm.

Algarrobo, Málaga, Andalucía. Access is available on foot or by vehicle. Parking is available via vehicular access.

Classified as excellent for all monitoring seasons: 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Microbiological contamination risk is low with short-duration pollution (24 hours). Risk from jellyfish proliferation is low. Risk from phytoplankton proliferation is low. Risk from macroalgae proliferation is low.

Risks

Low short-duration microbiological risk from diffuse sources including land use in the influence zone, constructed and altered surfaces. Río Algarrobo and an unnamed stream are present in the area. Low risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferations.
