Playa Amoladeras is a natural sandy beach located in La Manga del Mar Menor near Cartagena. The beach is 600 metres long with an average width of 30 metres and dark sand composition. It experiences high occupancy with approximately 7,800 maximum bathers daily. The water renewal rate is less than 7 days.

Coastal maritime water body in the Segura River Basin, Mediterranean Sea. Length 600 metres, average width 30 metres, dark sand bottom. Microtidal regime with tidal range less than 2 metres. Water renewal rate less than 7 days.

Foot-washing stations (4), toilets (3). No showers or changing rooms.

Water Quality

Water quality was classified as excellent from 2000–2009 and remained excellent in 2010–2011. The beach is situated in the coastal water body 'Mojón-Cabo de Palos', which has good ecological status. No significant pollution pressure identified. No authorised discharges in the adjacent area.

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton proliferation is a natural phenomenon that rarely affects public health; sampling in 2008 and 2009 showed practically no potentially toxic cells. Short-duration episodes are unlikely. Jellyfish appear seasonally with peak abundance from early spring to late summer; jellyfish production is highly variable.
