Las Marinas - Bolaga is a bathing beach located in Vera, Almería, on the Mediterranean coast. The beach stretches 1080 metres in length with an average width of 150 metres and features dark sand composition. It experiences calm water conditions and is moderately exposed to wave action dominated by easterly and north-easterly winds. The beach is highly occupied, urbanised with a promenade and boardwalks, and classified as a natural Mediterranean coastal water body.

Mediterranean coastal water body, deep sandy substrate with gravel and rocks. Micromareal range of 0-2 metres. Currents dominant towards the east, east-south-east, and east-north-east. Annual precipitation between 200-400 mm with torrent index of 50-75%.

Location

Vera, Almería, Andalucía, Spain. Easy pedestrian access and vehicle access available. The nearest sports port is in Garrucha.

Water Quality

Classified as Excellent for all seasons monitored (2013–2016). Microbiological contamination risk is low and short-duration (24 hours). Potential pollution sources include land use in the influence zone, altered built surfaces, and the Vera wastewater treatment plant (EDAR Vera) discharging 1,831,000 cubic metres per year.

Risks

Low risk of jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation. Short-duration microbiological contamination risk from the Antas River and wastewater treatment discharge.
