El Playazo is a 2,320-metre sandy beach located in Vera, Almería, within the Andalusian Mediterranean coastal area. The beach features dark sand with a moderate wave regime and a semi-urban character. It is situated in a protected area designated as a site of community importance and benefits from Red Cross lifeguard coverage and rescue equipment.

Water

Mediterranean Sea coastal waters. Deep sandy substrate with gravel and rocks. Average beach width of 50 metres. Microtidal range (0–2 metres). Dominant currents towards the east, east-southeast, and east-northeast. Moderately exposed to waves, predominantly from the east and east-northeast associated with easterly winds.

Location

Vera, Almería, Andalucía, Spain. The beach is accessible on foot and by car. A sports port is located at Garrucha, approximately 4 kilometres away.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent for all monitoring seasons (2013–2016). Short-term microbiological contamination risk rated as low, associated with land use in the influencing zone and constructed and altered surfaces. No point-source pollution identified. Risks from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae all rated as low.
