Benagalbón is a natural Mediterranean coastal bathing water located in El Rincón de la Victoria, Málaga, Andalucía. The beach extends for 2,045 meters with an average width of 25 meters and features dark sand composition. Swimming conditions involve moderate wave action, with the beach classified as semi-urbanized and of medium occupancy.

Water

Mediterranean coastal water. Deep water with muddy sand substrate. Microtidal range of 0–2 meters. Current regime dominates toward the northeast. Wave regime is dominant from the east and east-southeast, associated with levante wind. Moderately exposed to wave action.

Location

El Rincón de la Victoria, Málaga, Andalucía. Access is available on foot or by car. No lifeguard station or rescue equipment is stationed at the beach. Parking is available.

Facilities

Bins are available. Beach cleaning service is provided. Boat rental is available. No lifeguard station, rescue equipment, toilets, showers, disabled access, or danger signage. A sports marina (Club Naútico El Candado) is located nearby.

1 June to 30 September

Water Quality

Classified as Excellent for all four monitored seasons: 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Microbiological contamination risk is low and of short duration (24 hours). Short-term contamination sources include diffuse land use impacts in the influence zone, constructed and altered surfaces, and the treated urban wastewater treatment facility (EDAR) of Rincón de la Victoria (MA060). The Benagalbón and Granadillo streams are identified as point sources.

Risks

Medium risk of jellyfish. Low risk of phytoplankton and macroalgae proliferation.
