Torregarcía is a natural coastal bathing water located in Almería, Andalusia, on the Mediterranean Sea. The beach stretches for 2,130 metres with an average width of 100 metres and has a low occupancy level. Swimming conditions are characterised by moderate waves and windy conditions. The area is designated as a protected zone (LIC/ZEPA/Natural Park) and features dark sand and gravel composition with sparse vegetation.

Mediterranean coastal water body with deep bathymetry and muddy-sandy substrate. Micromareal regime with tidal range of 0–2 metres. Dominant current direction towards the east, east-southeast, and east-northeast. Moderate wave exposure with dominant wave direction from the east and east-northeast associated with levante wind.

Location

Almería municipality in Almería province, Andalusia, Spain. The beach is accessible on foot easily and by vehicle. The nearest sports port is in Almería, approximately 15 kilometres away.

Facilities

Waste bins and cleaning service available. No lifeguards, no lifeguard posts, no rescue equipment, no surveillance equipment, no signage, no showers, no toilets, no disabled access, and no coastal promenade.

Water Quality

Water quality was classified as Excellent for all monitoring seasons from 2013 to 2016. Low short-duration microbiological contamination risk (24 hours). Low risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferations.

Risks

Diffuse contamination sources from land use in the influence zone and forest and natural surfaces. Potential impact from two watercourses: Rambla de las Amoladeras and Rambla del Agua.
