Venta del Bancal-Ventanicas is a 1,670-meter-long beach in Mojácar, Almería, located in the Almería Coastal Area along the Mediterranean Sea. The beach features a mix of gravel and sand with dark sand composition and has moderate wave conditions. It is an urban beach with a promenade and boardwalks, experiencing medium occupancy. The beach is situated within a protected area classified as a Site of Community Importance (LIC).

Water

Mediterranean coastal water. Deep sandy waters (7 meters average depth) with sandy and gravelly substrate. Average beach width is 60 meters. Micromareal range of 0–2 meters. Currents are dominant toward the east, east-southeast, and east-northeast. Wave regime is dominantly from the east and east-northeast associated with Levantine wind. Water area classified as non-influenced by river inputs.

Location

Mojácar municipality, Almería Province, Andalusia. The beach is easily accessible on foot and by car. Sports port at Garrucha is 15 km away.

Red Cross station present. Lifeguard and rescue equipment available. Surveillance equipment in place. Hazard signage present. Promenade and boardwalks available. Bins provided. Cleaning service available. No disabled access. No toilets. No showers. No water sports rental. No diving zone.

Water Quality

Water quality classification was excellent for all monitored seasons (2013–2016). Microbiological contamination risk is low with short-duration events (24 hours). Monitoring methodology follows deterministic approach per standard UNE 150008.

Risks

Macroalgae risk is medium. Jellyfish risk is low. Phytoplankton risk is low. Diffuse pollution sources from land use in the influence zone, built-up areas, and altered surfaces. Short-duration microbiological risk from Rambla de Alfaix and other seasonal watercourses.
